ADAMAWA STATE GOVERNMENT ATTENDS 2025 ANNUAL REVIEW AND 2026 PLANNING MEETING HELD ON 24TH -28TH NOVEMBER, 2025 AT OAKLAND RAIN APARTMENTS AND SUITS , DAMBOA ROAD , MAIDUGURI.

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and its implementing partners from Borno, Adamawa and Yobe (BAY) States have concluded its Annual Year Review Meeting for 2025 and 2026 planning meeting slated for 24th -26th November 2025.
The Meeting was held at the Oakland Rain Apartments and Suits Damboa Road, Maiduguri with representatives from the Borno State Government, Adamawa State Planning Commission, State Ministry of Health, Adamawa State Primary HealthCare Development Agency, Adamawa State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and Yobe State Government.
In his remarks, the HC/Head of Office of UNFPA Mr. Christian Sabum welcome participants for the Annual Year Review and reiterated that the year 2025 has been a very challenging year, all Implementing and sub- IPs were hit by short fall in fundings by the US Government (USAID) which brought about delay in funding and that calls for adjustments, strategizing and work for alternative priority. He made it clear that in May 2025, funds were returned back and UNFPA was able to return back to area of concern i.e women & girls.
For the year 2026, the Head of Office made it clear that, it is going to be a very challenging period and urge partners to strategize and diversify on alternative source of fundings, he urge partners to be clinical, surgical and prioritized on services,and be objective in our spendings because, some sectors are disappearing and merging in order to adjust to the funding of the ecosystem and call for Government to take leadership in most of the sectors.
The Executive Chairman, Adamawa State Planning Commission Dr. Mary B. Paninga in her goodwill message made it clear that, Adamawa State Government remains committed to collaborate with program success of UNFPA and urge participants to come out with SMART results for 2026 Planning.
The annual review meeting also provides an avenue for data management, Monitoring & Evaluation, and technical Report Writing Capacity Building which the Executive Chairman ASPC advice that all Program Officers and M & E Officer most be highly computer literate in order to come out with a robust outcome.

Key Recommendations include;
Establish robust mechanisms for integrated supportive supervision and continuous monitoring of program activities to ensure adherence to quality standards.
Implement timely reporting protocols and expedite the disbursement of funds to facilitate rapid execution of program activities and improve overall implementation efficiency.
Collaborate with SEMA and pertinent Ministries to enhance and integrate strategies addressing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) contingencies in response to the ongoing flood crisis in Adamawa State.
The Partnership between Adamawa State Government and UNFPA remains committed to Ending preventable maternal death, Ending the unmet need for Family Planning and Ending GBV and all harmful practices.
