The Adamawa State Planning Commission on Tuesday, 7th April, 2026, held a well-organised one-day induction programme for its newly employed members of staff. The event, which took place at the Commission’s Conference Hall, marked a significant step in the onboarding process and orientation of new personnel into the Commission’s culture, mandate, and operations.
The Induction programme was designed to familiarise the newly recruited staff with the institutional framework, responsibilities, and expectations of the Commission, while also reinforcing the values of professionalism, dedication, and compliance with the Civil Service Rules.
The Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Purity Timothy, formally welcomed the new staff to the Commission in a warm and encouraging opening address. She expressed delight at having them on board and underscored the importance of dedication, diligence, and teamwork in driving the Commission’s mission forward. Mrs. Timothy urged the newly employed staff to bring their best to their respective roles, emphasising that the Commission’s success depends on the collective effort and commitment of every member of its workforce.
The Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Planning Commission, Dr. Mary Paninga, delivered the keynote address, setting a tone of purpose and high standards for the incoming staff. She charged the new employees to embrace hard work as a core value and to abide strictly by the Civil Service Rules, noting that adherence to established norms is the bedrock of institutional integrity.
Dr. Paninga described the Adamawa State Planning Commission as the “nerve centre of development” in the state, underlining its pivotal role in coordinating, planning, and monitoring development initiatives across all sectors. She stressed that working in the Commission is a privilege that comes with great responsibility and that every staff member must carry themselves with professionalism and a service-oriented mindset.
A major component of the induction was a series of presentations on the mandate and functions of all three (3) technical departments of the Commission. The presentations were intended to give the new staff a clear understanding of how each department contributes to the overall mandate of the Commission. The three departments are:
- Planning and Research Department
- Service Delivery Department
- Department of Donor and Coordination.
The presentations gave the new staff a comprehensive overview of interdepartmental collaboration, the Commission’s deliverables, and the standards expected in the execution of their duties.
Following the formal presentations, the newly employed staff were taken on a practical visit to the Hub — Citizens Eyes and Ears, a civic technology and data monitoring centre operated by the Commission. The Hub Administrator conducted an interactive walkthrough of the dashboard and core functionalities of the centre, explaining how it is used to track government projects, monitor service delivery, and receive citizens’ feedback in real time.
The visit offered the new staff a first-hand appreciation of how technology is being deployed at the Commission to drive transparency, accountability, and evidence-based planning in Adamawa State.
The one-day induction programme was concluded on a high note, with the new staff expressing enthusiasm and readiness to contribute meaningfully to the Commission’s work. The exercise reflects the Commission’s commitment to building a well-informed, professionally grounded, and purpose-driven workforce capable of delivering on the state’s development agenda.
The Adamawa State Planning Commission reaffirms its resolve to invest in capacity building and staff development as a cornerstone of institutional effectiveness and good governance.
